The Development of the Undulator Controls Module at the Linac Coherent Light Source∗
نویسنده
چکیده
The Linac Coherent Light Source, LCLS, at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, SNAL, is the first hard xray Free Electron Laser [1]. The Undulator Controls Module, UCM, controls five cams and two translation stages that regulate the position of each of the 33 permanent undulator magnet segments within 10 microns. The UCM package, hardware and software, was designed and built by the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne. Important lessons were learned throughout the collaborative design, installation, testing, and commissioning periods that could be invaluable to future similar controls projects.

Variable Gap Undulator for 1.5-48 Kev Free Electron Laser at Linac Coherent Light Source∗
We study the feasibility of generating femtosecond duration Free-Electron Laser with a variable photon energy from 1.5 to 48 keV, using an electron bunch with the same characteristics of the LINAC Coherent Light Source (LCLS) bunch, and a planar undulator with additional focusing. We assume that the electron bunch energy can be changed, and the undulator has a variable gap, allowing a variable ...
متن کاملElectron Signal Detection for the Beam-finder Wire of the Linac Coherent Light Source Undulator∗
The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) is a SASE xray Free-Electron Laser (FEL) based on the final kilometer of the Stanford Linear Accelerator. The tight tolerances for positioning the electron beam close to the undulator axis calls for the introduction of Beam Finder Wire (BFW) device. A BFW device close to the upstream end of the undulator segment and a quadrupole close to the down stream en...

The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) is a SASE 1.5-15 Å x-ray Free-Electron Laser (FEL) facility under construction at SLAC [1], and presently in an advanced phase of commissioning. The injector, linac, and new bunch compressors were commissioned in 2007 [2] and 2008 [3], establishing the necessary electron beam brightness at 14 GeV. The final phase of commissioning, including the FEL undulat...

The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) is a freeelectron laser facility in construction at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. It is designed to operate in the wavelength range 0.15-1.5 nanometers. At the time of this conference, civil construction of new tunnels and buildings is complete, the necessary modifications to the SLAC linac are complete, and the undulator system and x-ray optics/diag...
متن کاملLinac Coherent Light Source Undulator Rf Bpm System *
The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) will be the world's first x-ray free-electron laser (FEL) when it becomes operational in 2009. The LCLS is currently in the construction phase. The beam position monitor (BPM) system planned for the LCLS undulator will incorporate a high-resolution X-band cavity BPM system described in this paper. The BPM system will provide high-resolution measurements of...
